Orange II by OlisStudios Orange II by OlisStudios
Well, what can I say? Orange objects again, one of my favourite colours. The original shape was modeled in Blender, scene setup in 3ds max and rendering with Vray.

Amazing render! I love the depth of field. Any more info on the vray render, like shaders and surfaces?

Thanks! All the objects in the scene have the standard vray optimized shader. I used Vray's distributed rendering system to render the image on 3 computers at once. A total number of 10 processor cores worked on this for 7 hours.

Thats pretty cool. Im still new to 3d so I havent had that kind of render times or the need to use multiple computers yet haha. What kind of light setup did you use?

By looking at your gallery it doesn't look like you're that new to 3D. Your sculpts are really good. Do you use a tablet or just a mouse?

About the light setup, the scene has 4 square, quite large vray lights.

Thank you :D the sculpting is a lot of fun. I use a combination of a tablet and mouse for the zbrush sculpts, mainly a tablet, but for regular 3d apps and hardsurface modeling i use a mouse.

Im learning more about lighting and texturing but Im not familiar with vray, are those square vray lights essentially area lights?

I must help a lot having a tablet with pressure sensitivity when sculpting, right?

"are those square vray lights essentially area lights?"

Precisely.

Oh yea, sculpting with a tablet makes things easier but opens up a lot more possibilities, I cant see myself sculpting without one. Its like drawing in 3d.
Cool, good to know about the lights if I ever try out vray, thanks.
